How Much Is Your Florida Restaurant Worth?

A question on the top of every business owner’s mind is, “how much is my business worth?”

With season end approaching, I thought this would be a good time of year to update you on restaurant business sales throughout Florida and give you some data regarding sales and pricing. Here are some numbers for you to ponder for the first quarter of 2012 by Business Brokers of Florida Association members:
  • 35 = the number of restaurant businesses sold in Florida for the first quarter of 2012 by Business Broker of Florida Association members.
  • $137,623 = the average sale price of the sold restaurant businesses.
  • $96,090 = the average owner benefit generated in each sold restaurant business.
  • 1.756 = the owner benefit multiple (sales price divided by owner benefit) of the 35 sold restaurant businesses.
  • 77% = the average percentage down of the 35 sold restaurant businesses.
What does this mean?

Restaurant businesses are in high demand. And, in spite of a more conservative and cash strapped buying clientele, they are still paying near historical multiples with a percent down not realized in many other industries.
