This article misses the most important reason for hiring a broker to sell your business -- confidentiality. It goes on to suggest the owner announcing the sale to their customers, suppliers and competitors to see if they would buy. I can't think of a better way to chase customers and suppliers from your business than by telling them you are selling (sarcasm intended).
