Came for holiday, bought a business - Daily Courier: Business News

In 1998, Erhard Marenbach came from Germany to Kelowna for a vacation.

An orthotics and orthopedic shoe maker by trade, he was intrigued when he saw a business called Klaus Shoe Repair for sale on Sutherland Avenue.

He bought the company, moved to Kelowna in 1999 and renamed the store Erhard’s Orthopedics.

It all means Erhard’s is celebrating its 15th anniversary next week at 1551 Sutherland Ave.

“It’s a milestone,” said Marenbach,

“We’ll celebrate Tuesday through Saturday with a 15 per cent off sale for all in-stock items and a draw for a custom-made pair of orthotics.”

Erhard’s does shoe repair, sells comfortable shoes and sandals and makes custom orthotic inserts for shoes and custom-made orthopedic shoes.

Marenbach has the highest certification you can get in the business, a masters in orthopedic shoe making.
