"State estimates show Florida logged a record year for visitors in 2012: 89.3 million total, up 2.3 percent over 2011.
The number of direct travel-related jobs in 2012 was also a record high, with 1,030,600 Floridians employed in the tourism industry, according to a news release today from Visit Florida, the state’s tourism marketing organization.
Visit Florida defines visitors as people who aren’t Florida residents, and who stay here for at least one night.
Lee and Collier county visitor estimates include residents from other Florida counties as well as out-of-state residents and internationals. And, Southwest Florida tourism promoters also have good things to say about 2012."
