Great article by Richard Parker, President and Founder of Diomo Corporation, on how difficult it is today to find a growing business to buy.  Why?  Because most owners of growing businesses are fully invested in growing their business, not selling it.

Buyers should not discount stable businesses where the owner is missing an opportunity for growth or better performance.  For example, yesterday, I showed a restaurant where the owner is burnt out and has let food and labor costs creep up to the point where they have eroded half of the margin.  Last week, I showed an internet business where the owner has another business that has kept him from devoting time to develop additional highly profitable revenue streams.  Both businesses have been around 20 plus years and have generated profit every year.

Buyers should also look for stable, profitable businesses with significant upside opportunity!
